Kodansha Game Lab began releasing “Wabisabi Sushi Derby” (Steam / Switch) on July 16. The price is 710 yen (tax included), and until July 29, it’s 10% off, making it 639 yen (tax included).
“Wabisabi Sushi Derby” is a sushi training race game where you prepare sushi for the top of the “Sushi Race” to become a top-class sushi chef and compete for the top of the “Sushi Race.”
Sushi has unique skills for each topping, such as ‘Ebi’ that can knock away rivals with its tail and ‘Engawa’ that can dodge by diving into chopsticks. The running performance and weight also vary depending on the sushi topping.
Which abilities you develop depends on your training strategy; by accumulating victories in races, your status as a sushi chef rises, unlocking higher-level races and training.

The biggest feature of this game is that sushi sent to races can be eaten by customers. No matter how carefully a sushi is raised, once it catches a customer’s chopsticks, it will never come back.
Players can ‘cheer’ their sushi and accelerate rapidly. Once you use them, a cooldown occurs, so timing your use to avoid or overtake others will be where your skills shine.
